Friends Meeting House, Santa Fe, New Mexico

friends meeting house Camp is based at the historic home of Olive Rush, currently the Friends Meeting House at 630 Canyon Road, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The space is a beautiful adobe home with a rambling back yard situated about half way up Canyon Road. It offers a plethora of image making options for the pinhole photographer.

In this beautiful small group setting we will build our pinhole cameras and get a hands on approach to the geometry of photography. Due to the shorter amount of time, we will construct our cameras from found objects, as opposed to the 4x5 super wide cameras built in longer camps. A variety of vessels will be made available to choose from, however we encourage campers to think outside the box and bring in a container of their choice. We will test our cameras and compare imagery made from paper negatives to those made from film, while exploring unique locations. Developing and scanning our negatives for quick viewing will aid the photographers in their visual journey. Printing will be done in the alternative process of Cyanotype.

Join us for adventures in pinhole photography and the camera obscura and explore the history, art and techniques of this beautiful and intuitive process in its simplest and most rewarding form.
